Friday Free Agents: Gameweek 10

Each week you should be scanning the free agent market in your mini league looking for value pick ups that other managers have missed. These players won’t cost you your place in the Waiver Queue but can provide the extra few points you need on a short term basis. Here we give a full lineup of potential free agent players for Gameweek 10.

< You can learn more about this transfer tactic (called “streaming”) in our article FPL Draft Transfer Tactics: Streaming. >

GOALKEEPER: Mathew Ryan, 7% owned, Brighton & Hove Albion Vs Southampton.

Brighton’s only Home loss so far this season was a 2-0 Gameweek 1 defeat by Manchester City which upon reflection looks like quite a good result! Since then they have disposed of West Brom 3-1, beaten Newcastle 1-0 and were one rush of blood to Bruno’s head away from beating Everton by the same scoreline. The Seagulls will be flying high this week after a surprisingly comfortable win away at West Ham last Friday during which Ryan had a grand total of 2 saves to make in the entire match. Southampton are averaging less than a goal a game this season.

DEFENDERS: Per Mertesacker, 1.8% owned, Arsenal Vs Swansea City.

The giant German had been long forgotten by fantasy managers until a defensive crisis has seen him thrust into First team action once again. Preferred to Rob Holding for the last 2 Gameweeks he has a chance for a clean sheet against a Swansea side that has failed to score in 3 out of 4 away games so far.

Shane Duffy, 0.3% owned, Brighton & Hove Albion Vs Southampton.

Duffy is an old fashioned centre half who throws his body on the line when needed and can also offer a goal threat from set pieces. His all action style makes him a contender for Bonus Points in a team that will be looking for a clean sheet in Gameweek 10.

Stephen Ward, 24.1% owned, Burnley Vs Newcastle United.

Burnley have only conceded twice in 4 Home matches this season and face Newcastle at home under floodlights on Monday Night Football. Ward himself is the 8th highest points scoring Defender in the league, helped by an impressive 8 Bonus Points in 9 appearances.

MIDFIELDERS: Manuel Lanzini, 26.9% owned, Crystal Palace Vs West Ham United.

I said it last week and I’ll say it again. If Lanzini is available in your league go and get him right now. After a slow start following his return from injury he bagged a pair of assists in West Ham’s incredible come back victory against Spurs on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup.

Abdoulaye Doucouré, 21.9% owned, Watford Vs Stoke City.

Watford’s impressive form shows no sign of slowing. Despite suffering a 4-2 defeat at reigning Champions Chelsea it was Watford who were the better of the 2 sides and had more than enough chances to win the game themselves. You could be forgiven for believing Doucouré was a new signing this season such has been his impact but he was part of the disjointed Watford outfit that stumbled through 2016/17 under Walter Mazzarri. Doucouré and Richarlison have been huge points scorers and should be fancied to increase their respective tallies in GW10 against Stoke City who have recorded only 1 win in their last 7 League games.

Sofiane Boufal, 15.4% owned, Brighton & Hove Albion Vs Southampton.

Someone highlighted in our Watchlist last week Boufal scored a goal of the season contender during his 8 minute match winning cameo against West Brom last Saturday. Saints fans will be hoping to see more of his creative spark from the start of their GW10 fixture away at newly promoted Brighton.

Fabian Delph, 1.5% owned, West Bromwich Albion Vs Manchester City.

West Brom haven’t won at home since the opening day while City have won all four Premier League away games in 2017/18 with a combined goal difference of 11:1. In fact City have won every single away game they have played in all competitions since April with a combined goal difference of 22:2. Those stats include a 2-1 victory at the Hawthorns in this season’s Carabao Cup. With most of City’s squad sure to be owned in Draft leagues there will be some managers looking for an angle into Pep’s side. Delph was rested for their penalty shoot out win over Championship side Wolves on Tuesday and gets the nod ahead of the potential sleeper Bernardo Silva who played 95 minutes, Danilo who played 103 and Gündgogan & Yaya Toure who completed the maximum 120.

Jose Izquierdo, 2.3% owned, Brighton & Hove Albion Vs Southampton.

The 3rd Brighton player in our picks and the second player who produced a stand out performance and memorable goal after being highlighted in our Watchlist last week. The Colombian didn’t complete a full pre season and as such has been playing catch up fitness wise but showed his class with an absolute screamer in front of the Sky cameras last Friday night. Seagulls fans are expecting his first Premier League start at the AMEX this weekend.

FORWARDS: Glenn Murray, 6.2% owned, Brighton & Hove Albion Vs Southampton.

Murray completes the clean sweep of Brighton players and having scored twice in GW9 will look ahead to his sides next 5 fixtures with some anticipation. With home games against Southampton, Stoke and Crystal Palace as well as a trip to Swansea in that period Murray is a great shout for your teams 3rf striker spot.

Mame Biram Diouf, 5.5% owned, Watford Vs Stoke City.

Due to his versatility Diouf is looking about as solid a 3rd choice forward as you can get. Often deployed in a right midfield role he reverted to the centre forward position in GW9 and kept up his fine scoring form with a his 3rd goal in as many matches. Wherever he lines up on the pitch he is a threat with 2 assists helping him achieve 34 Pts over the last 6 games, at an eye widening average of 5.7 per Gameweek.
