Each week you should be scanning the free agent market in your mini league looking for value pick ups that other managers have missed. These players won’t cost you your place in the Waiver Queue but can provide the extra few points you need on a short term basis. Here we give a full lineup of potential free agent players for Gameweek 19. The rules are that only one player per club can be selected at each position (Eg. Can’t name 4 Burnley defenders etc).
< You can learn more about this transfer tactic (called “streaming”) in our article FPL Draft Transfer Tactics: Streaming. >
Gameweek 18 results:
5 Clean Sheets ✅
4 Bonus Points ✅
3 Goals ✅
1 Assist ✅
Average of 4.8 Pts Per Player ✅
Last week saw another record breaking return for this column with a score of 53 Pts which is outstanding when you consider that all the players have under 40% ownership and there are no points doubled for Captains. In fact the Streaming Tips outperformed my actual draft teams this week on both the Official site and the Draft Fantasy platform. The hectic Christmas schedule makes predicting starting lineups tricky for al of us so good luck with all things Fantasy Football this weekend and Merry Christmas!
GOALKEEPER: Adrián, 20.1% owned, West Ham United Vs Newcastle United.
At the risk of letting the cat out of the bag Joe Hart isn’t very good. Which is weird because he did at least seem to be pretty good for quite a few years. West Ham fans appear to favour Adrián who has the incredible ability to dive to both sides, unlike Joe. Adrián has kept 3 consecutive clean sheets in the League and after coming into the side when Hart was unable to play against parent Club Man City.
DEFENDERS: Scott Dann, 20.8% owned, Swansea City Vs Crystal Palace.
Swansea may see the bounce in form often associated with a change of management but Palace have been very good recently and Dann carries a goal threat to go with his clean sheet potential. He averages a goal every 9 games for his current Club.
Eliaquim Mangala, 0.4% owned, Manchester City Vs AFC Bournemouth.
Such has been City’s dominance this season that they are now heavy favourites to go unbeaten in the first half of the campaign. With Vincent Kompany an injury doubt once again Mangala should get the nod over youth product Tosin Adarabioyo.
Arthur Masuaku, 0.2% owned, West Ham United Vs Newcastle United.
Hammers fans are in love with wing back Masuaku after a series of strong performances. The only concern is whether David Moyes changes formation to a back 4 and whether Aaron Cresswell would be preferred as a more traditional left back. If you’re looking for a more “guaranteed” option (as if such a thing exists over Christmas 🙄) I’d go for Winston Reid (16.7% owned) over Angelo Ogbonna or James Collins.
MIDFIELDERS: Pascal Groß, 24.8% owned, Brighton & Hove Albion Vs Watford.
Only Stoke have conceded more League goals than Watford this season. Seagulls boss Chris Hughton has to choose between Glenn Murray & Tomer Hemed up front and whoever gets the nod will be looking to Groß to provide the ammunition.
Andros Townsend, 11.1% owned, Swansea City Vs Crystal Palace.
With Christian Benteke suspended Palace Gaffer Roy Hodgson is expected to revert to his formation from earlier in the season that saw pacy duo Townsend and Wilfried Zaha deployed in attacking roles.
🚨 Michail Antonio 🚨, 29.9% owned, West Ham United Vs Newcastle United.
Manuel Lanzini misses this match after his retrospective diving ban and his while his guile will be missed the pace and power of Antonio can exploit a Newcastle side in freefall. The Geordies have lost 8 out of their last 9 matches.
🚨 Antonio is listed as “50/50” for Gameweek 19. Suggested alternative is fellow Hammer Marko Arnautovic who is a more “guaranteed” starter compared to other alternative options of Bernardo Silva & Ilkay Gundogan.
FORWARDS: Charlie Austin, 16.4% owned, Southampton Vs Huddersfield Town.
Southampton will be looking forward to facing Yorkshire’s lone Premier League representative after a run of difficult fixtures and Austin can make the most of his increased opportunities this weekend.
Tammy Abraham, 24% owned, Swansea City Vs Crystal Palace
Let’s be frank here and say that Swansea are poor and have been carrying little goal threat. With Wilfried Bony missing through injury the goalscoring responsibility lies squarely with Tammy Abraham in what is a crucial game for the Swans.
Andre Gray, 25.2% owned, Brighton & Hove Albion Vs Watford.
The door is open for Gray after Troy Deeney won’t play for Watford again in 2017 after disciplinary issues saw him receive another lengthy ban. The Hornets are the joint top scorers (27 goals along with Leicester) in the Premier League this season outside of the “Big 6” teams.
