Happy new year!
An FA Cup week was a welcome break after an underwhelming Double gameweek. 3/4 tips failed to play twice but Cresswell and Arnautovic both got assists and Adrian had some good save points to be the fifth highest scoring goalkeeper, and realistically the second highest streamable goalkeeper after Darlow. (De Gea, Lloris and Schmeichel were the other 3)
So on to 2018 we go a World Cup year!!
Defender: Luke Shaw, Man Utd (STO H)
Luke Shaw seems to be in Jose’s good books. Although as I write this he might have had too much butter on his toast and not passed the ball at the 35 degree angle required in training and be back in the reserves where his only contact with Mourinho is to be lambasted in the press. If Shaw can stay in the good books long enough a Stoke side without a manager will almost certainly play for 0-0 and Shaw can pick up a third clean sheet in a row. Also he always has good potential for some attacking returns.
Midfield: Jesse Lingard, Man Utd (STO H) Lingard is on such an outstanding run of form, is only owned by less than 20% on both Draft Fantasy and the Official game and if he still available you should pick him up. Over the last 9 games he averages 7.78 with including scores of 12, 15, 10 and 13. An upgrade to both your midfield and England’s middle order. You don’t need me to tell you how bad Stoke are again do you? In their 3 visits to top 6 opponents so far this season they have conceded 17 goals, with seven players hitting double figure point tallies and 19 players getting attacking returns!
Forward: Ayoze Perez, Newcastle (SWA H)
Perez scored the winner last week away at Stoke (no Allardyce vendetta this week it’s a Potters special) and followed that up with 2 in the Cup. He can add to his run against a Swansea team who look increasingly doomed.
Good luck this week.
