Each week you should be scanning the free agent arket in your mini league looking for value pick ups that other managers have missed. These players won’t cost you your place in the Waiver Queue but can provide the extra few points you need on a short term basis. Here we give a full lineup of potential free agent players for Gameweek 26. The rules are that only one player per club can be selected at each position (Eg. Can’t name 4 Burnley defenders etc).
< You can learn more about this transfer tactic (called “streaming”) in our article FPL Draft Transfer Tactics: Streaming. >
GOALKEEPER: Asmir Begovic, 34.5% owned, AFC Bournemouth Vs Stoke City.
Begovic could prove to be a decent alternative to anybody who is set to lose Burnley goalie Nick Pope from their squad when Tom Heaton returns in the near future. His next 3 games are against low scoring opposition in Stoke (H), Huddersfield (A) and Newcastle (H).
DEFENDERS: Nathan Aké, 12.7% AFC Bournemouth Vs Stoke City.
Aké is a fixture in this Bournemouth side whose opponents Stoke have found the net just once in their previous 4 away matches.
Craig Dawson, 9.4% owned, West Bromwich Albion Vs Southampton.
I don’t think too much should be read into the Baggies defeat away at Manchester City in midweek. Alan Pardew has got West Brom playing well and they won 3 of their previous 4 before that loss, including a draw away against Everton in a game which they really deserved to win. In a Gameweek which has plenty of matchups that look tight on paper we will go with Dawson who is a consistent starter for an in form home team.
Shane Duffy, 4.7% owned, Brighton & Hove Albion Vs West Ham United.
With West Ham in all sorts of injury trouble either of Brighton’s long standing centre back pairing of Duffy or Lewis Dunk (3.9% owned) could have been chosen for this column. Duffy gets the nod due his singular assist this season and Dunks 3 own goals.
Kurt Zouma, 18.2% owned, AFC Bournemouth Vs Stoke City.
New Stoke boss Paul Lambert will be keen to continue his sides run of 2 clean sheets and if he can Zouma may be a decent contender for Bonus Points. He made 9 clearances and 6 interceptions against Watford in GW25.
MIDFIELDERS: Pascal Groß, 24% owned, Brighton & Hove Albion Vs West Ham United.
As a long suffering Evertonian myself I’ve seen plenty of David Moyes away performances and this game screams to me his tactics will be to keep it a tight affair. Groß and his set pieces can be the key for Brighton in this fixture.
Andros Townsend, 12.8% owned, Crystal Palace Vs Newcastle United.
Four assists and a goal in his last 7 games ✅, at Home against his former Club ✅, injury to Bakary Sako placing further onus on Townsend in an attacking sense ✅.
Theo Walcott, 24.2% owned, Arsenal Vs Everton.
Beware the wounded animal. Everton have an atrocious record away at Arsenal and haven’t won there in the league since 1996. Any hope they have of changing that statistic will surely come from a counter attacking plan and the pace of Theo who has 2 goals and 1 assist in his Everton career so far.
FORWARDS: Callum Wilson, 9.4% owned, AFC Bournemouth Vs Stoke City.
Wilson has enjoyed a rare run of health and is in excellent form with 4 goals and 2 assists in his last 6 matches.
Jordan Ayew, 13.1% owned, Leicester City Vs Swansea City.
Another player in form is Jordan Ayew (4 goals in 7) who has been key to the Welsh sides revival under Carlos Carvahal.
Daniel Sturridge, 35.1% owned, West Brom Vs Southampton.
If FPL Robinson can pick Aubameyang then I can choose Sturridge! His goals per minutes ratio is quite simply outstanding and if he is fit enough to play (he was a substitute against Manchester City in midweek) he has the quality to get his first gil for his new club this weekend.
